Label Text:According to historian Beverly Gordon, rebellious “counterculture youth,” who valued individualism, found a creative outlet in “glorifying their jeans.” Through patchwork appliqué and beading, hippies turned their denim “into visible, vocal personal statements.” Hand embroidery on the inside waistband reveals that these jeans were “lovingly created by Linda Sampson for Jay Good.”
