Label Text:Elizabeth Hawes devoted her final years to handcrafting bold, dimensional garments from natural materials. This approach to design stood in direct opposition to the mass production and disposability that would come to define much of 1960s fashion. Her sentiments would later be adopted as part of the “back-to-the-land” movement at the end of the decade.
