Label Text:The deep blue jacket of the U.S. Army can be traced to the Continental Army of the Revolutionary War. During the twentieth century, the army began issuing “olive drab” combat uniforms, reserving blue strictly for dress uniforms. “Dress blues,” as they became known, retained other historic details, including the gold stripes on the leg.
