DescriptionBaseball shirt: off white wool flannel; baseball neckline with self band extending down center front; one piece back shirt tail hem; short sleeves with faded blue BFA monogram on left; six button center front closing. Matching knickers: five belt loops; back with short waist dart near sideseams and patch pocket at right seat; elasticized cuff, below the knee; four metal button fly front closing. Matching cap: eight gore crown with button at center; trapunto visor; off white sateen lining.

Label Text:Baseball uniforms were first worn in 1849. They were originally meant to resemble the uniforms of fire departments, and other respectable organizations. Design elements better suited to sport were added later. For example, by 1868 knickers had generally replaced long, cumbersome pants, and player identification numbers started being featured on sleeves around 1909.
