Label Text:Nike’s Happy Pineapple Air Force 1 sneakers utilize the pineapple-based leather alternative, Piñatex®. Piñatex® was developed by Dr. Carmen Hijosa and came to market in 2015. It is made from the cellulose fibers of pineapple leaves which are typically discarded. Durable and supple, it takes 460 leaves to make one square meter of fabric and no extra water, land, or fertilizers are involved in its production.
