Description14 inch slip in white rayon chiffon crepe and black net schiffli embroidered in white; fitted double V front of embroidered net joined to solid crepe back finishing at top with white piping; narrow flat shoulder straps; front skirt is cut into point to bustline; double row of elastic thread placed at normal waistline; long V insets on either side front from hem upwards; bottom finished with white piping. Matching panties with elasticized waistband across back; front contour V waistband top stitched in place; legs finished with self piping; one button closing at left side.
Label Text:“The short slip was born of short wartime skirts; [it] is still a fashion,” explained Vogue in 1946. This example was worn with a matching pair of panties, hidden just beneath the slip’s hem. The set is adorned with Schiffli lace, an embroidered, machine-made material that is still used for lingerie today.
