Label Text:This two-toned, gown-and-coat ensemble exemplifies Ed Austin and Huibert Zuur’s elegant, minimalist style. They founded their Madison Avenue atelier in 1974, after training under Halston. Despite his success, Austin astutely noted that a major component of discrimination in the industry centered on funding: “Nobody wants to back or give big finances to black designers.”
