Label Text:For his 1999 “Echoform” collection, London-based designer Hussein Chalayan focused on the theme of memory. To express this in clothing, Chalayan chose the classic denim jacket, which he then reproduced in a series of different forms. As fashion historian Caroline Evans recounts, “Each had a section omitted, as if only part remembered, like a ghostly dress destroyed by its double, so that each dress bore traces of an earlier one.”
