Label Text:French couturier Jean-Louis Scherrer copied Chanel’s iconic threepiece suit during the height of its popularity. He incorporated all the hallmarks of a Chanel suit, including its fabric, self-tie blouse, chain, and lion-head buttons. Chanel’s reaction is unknown, but she once said, “The very idea of protecting the seasonal arts is childish. One should not bother to protect that which dies the minute it is born.”
