Silk crepe chiffon and silk lace
Gift of Barbara Mosbacher
Object number2013.69.1
As hemlines rose or fell, slips followed suit. This slip was designed to be worn under a 1930s evening dress with a skirt that skimmed the floor. The wide, gathered band of lace at the slip’s hem would have given the skirt a subtle flare.
