Label Text:Drawing on his Spanish heritage, Cristóbal Balenciaga made extensive use of black lace, which had been worn as an emblem of Spanish national identity by the clergy and monarchy since the late eighteenth century. This cocktail ensemble from circa 1963 was made using black Chantilly lace with a design of roses.
