Label Text:Claire McCardell’s flirtatious (and slightly subversive) version of the World War II uniform pairs an Ike jacket with matching shorts and a red halter top. The “Ike” jacket moved quickly into civilian clothing after World War II, due in part to Eisenhower’s growing popularity, as well as the influence of returning G.I.s who continued to wear their uniform jackets at home.
