Label Text:Cellophane is a cellulose-based, water-repellant film invented by Swiss chemist Jacques E. Brandenberger in 1912. Fashion embraced cellophane for hats during the 1920s, and then as shimmering, translucent yarns woven into fabrics. The material was considered futuristic, and Vogue noted that Schiaparelli and Alix designed with cellophane-woven fabrics during the 1930s.
