Label Text:Women’s labor was essential to the war effort during World War II. Female factory workers, or “Rosie the Riveters,” wore denim jumpsuits called “boiler suits” that allowed freedom of movement without the danger of skirts or sleeves getting caught in machinery. The boiler suit became a symbol of the patriotic, wartime contributions of female workers.
