Label Text:Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons, with her Biker/Ballerina collection of Spring/Summer 2005, paired hand-crafted black leather jackets with delicate, feminine skirts inspired by ballerinas' tutus. Kawakubo told journalist Sarah Mower that the collection was inspired by the "power" of motorcycles and the "strength" of ballet dancers. This ensemble continues Kawakubo's longstanding exploration of clothing that expresses women's strength and independence.
