Label Text:Cashmere shawls from Kashmir in northern India were intricately handwoven with traditional boteh (flower) motifs and, from the 16th century on, were highly desired luxury fashions. Worn by Mughal emperors and awarded as prestigious gifts, they were traded and incorporated into local fashions throughout Asia, especially in Persia and China, before becoming popular in Europe.
