Label Text:The spencer jacket was originally adapted from menswear. In the early nineteenth century, it was an essential outerwear component of a woman’s daytime wardrobe. The dainty silk floral fabric indicates that this jacket was probably worn in the afternoon,while the slashed detail on the sleeve caps shows the influence of a Renaissance revival style.
