Label Text:The silhouette of this dress by British couturier Hardy Amies recalls the bustled dresses of the Belle Époque, underscoring the romanticism of postwar fashion. Amies experimented widely with color and texture to create overtly feminine gowns. In 1954, he said, “I will economize in no way when it comes to the material or labor that is put into a dress.”
