Label Text:The term “deconstructivism” derives from architecture. Although it was not regularly applied to fashion until the early 1990s, the concept was visible in clothing design a decade earlier. Kansai Yamamoto — fittingly esteemed as an “architect of fashion” — playfully deconstructed a suit jacket by applying components of interior construction, such as shoulder pads and interfacing, to the garment’s exterior.
