Label Text:These sandals combine a wedge heel—a style new to the late 1930s—with appliqués inspired by the artwork of ancient Greece. The July 1, 1938, issue of Vogue featured an array of similarly embellished sandals, stating that these “less prosaic” designs “should carry out the decorative scheme of your costume, like jewels.”
