Label Text:The contrasting red stripe in this garment’s satin lining highlights Hawes’ appreciation for hidden, personal touches. The designer was particularly fond of this vermillion color, which she first took from Picasso’s painting The Lovers (1923). She also used the color to decorate her showroom during the late 1940s.
